Journey of Faith: Embracing Islam in Denmark's Heartland
Three college girls in an island of Denmark, where no Muslims lived, embraced Islam together despite never having met a Muslim in their lives. Their names are Julia, her sister, and their friend. After reciting the Shahada (Islamic declaration of faith), the next day when they arrived at the class wearing hijabs, the principal called them and asked who influenced them. They replied that they hadn't met any Muslim until now. So, how did your views change, the principal inquired. In response, Julia said that when they heard anti-Islamic propaganda in the media, all three decided to research Islam. If you also investigate with an open mind, you will realize the authenticity and value of this faith. Hearing this, the principal fell silent.
Julia is 20 years old. She says, "Me, my sister, and my friend recited the Shahada together. It was the most blessed day of our lives. We had no idea of the happiness that awaited us. After reciting the Shahada, we found spiritual tranquility and peace that cannot be expressed in words. Until now, we haven't met any religious scholars, and we didn't meet a regular Muslim either. We kept learning and practicing by researching information online about all the teachings. After accepting Islam, I started reading the Quran by myself. I found answers to every existing question in my mind. Even now, when I encounter any mental disturbance, I turn to the Quran. I find answers to every question and an incredible sense of contentment. Now, my desire is to learn Arabic so that I can directly benefit from the Quran. My aim now is solely the pleasure of Allah. Whether creatures are pleased or displeased, I have to do whatever pleases the Lord. Whatever I have is a trust from my Lord."
"Some of my loved ones saw prayer, fasting, and the hijab and told me that this is a very difficult religion, and I should leave it. Every possible attempt was made to divert me from Islam. Instead, I started inviting them to Islam," Julia said. "Now, I work as a cook in an old home. My wish is to have a family where all members are Muslims and perform the five daily prayers."
